Multiple Affected as In-Flight Disturbance Impacts A Delta Airlines Plane Arriving in Sydney

Delta Airlines reported the plane experienced "short-lived instability" as it landed at Sydney Airport.

Multiple passengers and crew sustained injuries after a Delta flight from Los Angeles to Sydney was hit by turbulence this past Friday.

The flight, numbered 41 "encountered brief turbulence" as it made its approach and landed at the Sydney airport, a company official informed. Several cabin crew members were injured.

The New South Wales Ambulance Service reported they evaluated five individuals, and took three to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries that included back pain and migraines. The injured spanned from their thirties and seventies.

The event represents the most recent case of commercial jets experiencing severe turbulence, with aviation specialists saying that climate change is a significant contributor.

There were 245 passengers and a crew of 15 on the wide-body jet, the Delta spokesperson said, clarifying that the plane arrived "safely and normally" at the airport at 06:48 local time on Friday.

Emergency responders indicated they got a call just three minutes prior to the plane touched down, and emergency vehicles were standing by on the runway.
